Before starting childcare, families need to provide the centre with the appropriate immunisation documentation. NSW Health explains the accepted records and any applicable exemptions.

What records are required?

In NSW, approved documentation generally needs to show that a child is up to date for their age, is on a recognised catch-up schedule, or has a medical reason not to be immunised. A conscientious objection is not an accepted exemption. Specific circumstances and temporary documentation exemptions are explained in NSW Health’s childcare vaccination questions and answers.

Finding and updating your child’s statement

You can access an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement through Medicare in myGov. Give the centre an updated statement after immunisations. If a record is missing or vaccinations were received overseas, speak with your GP or immunisation provider about updating the AIR.

For accepted forms and current requirements, use NSW Health’s childcare and preschool entry guidance.

Getting ready to enrol

Contact your chosen centre to discuss the paperwork for your child’s enrolment. Our team can explain the centre’s process; your GP or immunisation provider can advise on your child’s vaccination history. See our enrolment FAQs for other practical questions.

I honestly couldn't be happier with Little Learners! The educators are incredibly kind, patient and genuinely care about the children. From day one, they made both us and our child feel so welcome, which made the transition into childcare much easier. It's clear that so much thought goes into the daily activities, and it's been amazing to see how much our child has grown in confidence and independence. The communication is fantastic, and I always feel informed and confident that my child is being well looked after. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a supportive and nurturing environment. I highly recommend this centre to any family looking for exceptional care.

We’ve had such a positive experience with Little Learners. The team is friendly, supportive, and always goes above and beyond to make the children feel comfortable and cared for. It’s so nice knowing our child is happy, having fun, and learning new things every day. We’re so grateful for everything they do and would definitely recommend the centre to other families.
